Detailed Itinerary of the 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Hiking (Umbwe Route Hike)
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Hotel in Moshi
Arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport where you are picked up by a driver guide to transfer you to your hotel in Moshi town. Reaching the Hotel, relax and then later prepare your hiking Gear for the Mountain the Next Day. Kilimanjaro Safaris Lodge.
Day 2: Umbwe Gate – Umbwe Cave (6-8hrs)
Transfer to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate where you pick your permits as you gaze at the green terrain, rain forest, fauna and flora. Later proceed on a guided walk with gaiters and trekking poles through a ridge situated between two deep valleys to the dense montane forest. After a while you reach the Camp located between large trees with thick under growth and here you have overnight.
Day 3 of the 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking (Umbwe Route Hike): Umbwe Cave – Barranco Camp (4-6hrs)
Breakfast and transfer from the rain forest onto a steep ascending trail along the Umbwe Ridge descending slightly to the Barranco Camp situated in the valley. Here have dinner and Overnight.
Day 4: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (3-4hrs)
Have breakfast then embark on transfer along a steep ridge to the Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley and the center that adjoins with the Mweka Trail. Dinner and Overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 5 of the 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Trekking (Umbwe Route Hike): Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (3-4hrs)
Enjoy breakfast then proceed to the Barafu Camp and when you reach here, you shall have finished the South Circuit. When you here, enjoy views of the of the summit at various angles. Enjoy early dinner then have Overnight at the Barafu Camp.
Day 6: Barafu Camp – Summit (5-7hrs)
After breakfast, embark on transfer between midnight and 2:00 am a very mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. You proceed to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. While here you try to keep warm and focused then later continue North West ascending through heavy scree to the Stella Point on the Crater Rim.
Have stunning views of the sunrise from the summit and later continue on ascent to the Uhuru Peak a hike that enables you encounter snow all the way up. When you arrive at the Uhuru Peak, take many photos to keep. After the adventure, embark on a descent to the Mweka Camp and en-route break off for lunch at the Barafu Camp. Dinner and Overnight at Mweka Camp.
Day 7: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi (3-4hrs)
Breakfast and continue on descent from the Mweka Park Gate to receive your certificates. Afterwards, depart through Moshi to the Kilimanjaro International Airport to board your flight back home.
