Detailed Itinerary of the 8 to 9 Days Itinerary Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route
Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
On arrival in Arusha you transfer to the Londrossi Gate where our guided and porters prepare then pack your equipment then with your packed lunch and after registration drive for 45 minutes to Lemosho Gate where your trek starts. You transfer for 3 hours through the dense rain forest then later proceed to the Mti Mkubwa Camp for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
From the forested slopes of Lemosho you ascend through a podocarpus and juniper forest and then break out on to a zone of heather and lichen-draped volcanic rock and the Shira Plateau, which used to be Kilimanjaro’s third peak before it collapsed. Lunch is taken on the trail and you arrive in camp mid-afternoon. The view of Kibo (the peak of Kilimanjaro) is breathtaking from this vantage point. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Day 3 of the Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route 8 to 9 Days Itinerary: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Wake up have breakfast then embark on your hike up the Shira Plateau to Shira Camp 2 at 3,850 meters. At this point, you meet the hikers from the Machame Route as you enjoy the scenic views of the valley beneath and Western Breach of Kilimanjaro. Dinner and Overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
While here, you have gone halfway on your hike hence altitude affects you. You continue on your hike traversing the dry landscape covered with few rough bushes and by lunch time you reach the Lava Tower at 4600 where air is thin. After a while descend through a terrain of vast groundsel trees to the Barranco Camp at 3,900 m for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 5 of the Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route 8 to 9 Days Itinerary: Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley
Wake up have breakfast then proceed on a steep ridge via the Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley Campsite. Leave Karanga and hit the junction that adjoins with the Mweka Trail then to the Barafu Hut. While here you have completed the South Circuit hence enjoy views of the summit i.e (Mawenzi & Kibo Peak) at different angles.
